It's not Tuesday and I'm already disappointed...

OP is just a Debbie Downer type.

I agree with OP. I am also not sure what to think about the whole bait and switch of B.O. not addressing his race during the elections and made such a big deal about it in Tuesday's festivities. Is it going to be bait and switch over the next few months/ years?

I could not disagree with this more.

I don't know what you mean exactly by "not addressing his race", but remember that he gave what many think was a brilliantly crafted speech on race during the peak of the Rev. Wright issue. In addition, I think there is a big difference between using race as an election issue (eg. "vote for me because I'm black or you are a bigot"), which Obama never did, and making the point in his inaugural address that the US has come a long way in the past 60 years.

To call it a "bait and switch" is ludicrous.

I agree totally with 06:46. Many Republicans have made that same "switch", having opposed Obama, but now celebrating a landmark election. I don't think there is any inconsistency in his words or theirs; you can be for or against him politically, yet be proud that his race did not dominate the election.

It's likely we all will be disappointed in Obama. There's no way he can live up to all our expectations. If he'd just get universal health insurance passed, that would be a huge victory, something no Republican would dare reverse, ever.

If he fails on that issue, I say his presidency will have failed, no matter what else he does.

The coronation was fabulous, and emotional. But to me the bigger event was his winning the election. I was overwhelmed by that, and still am.
