Cheating or no?

How in the universe is doing extra work, supplied in the textbook precisely to help you learn the material, cheating? Perhaps instead of worrying about cheating you should be mad at your son for not using the available resources to study for the test.

That was my first thoughts as well. How can you even think of this as cheating?
