My daughter has a late sept birthday, but got into RCFES immersion program.

OP again. Thanks everyone for your responses. I will post the outcome on here. Regardless of what happens, DD will be OK and I will survive (though will be disappointed). Have a good day.

So does RCF evaluate or does the home school?

No, she won't be bored. The program is not about learning vocabulary, but rather spending your school day learning the MCPS curriculum in Spanish. The fact that she can already speak Spanish will just mean that she will be able to interact better with the teacher.

The home school evaluates.

OP, try not to feel too stressed about it. While of course it's a great opportunity to get your daughter into the immersion program, they do give the tests for a reason, and if your daughter isn't kindergarten-ready, she's better off starting next year. The test is to see if she's ready to be admitted early. Try to put some faith in the process. (If only to ease the pressure on yourself and your daughter.)

So there are many fluent Spanish speakers in the immersion classes?

NP here - I don't know if there are many, but I personally know two families - one in Spanish and one in French immersion - who are native speakers. In both cases, the parents were born abroad and the kids were born here and speak Spanish/French at home. The parents want them to continue to be able to speak the language as they get older and also have good grammar, be able to read/write, etc.
