My kids are younger so I don't really have any recs, but just curious - what are the concerns about The Sandlot? It has been a couple of years since I've seen it, but I can't remember anything concerning.

An 8 year old seeing other kids give the middle finger, a coach drunk, kids saying to stick a trophy up your a**, coach throwing a beer can at a kid, curse words, racial slurs, 11 yr old smoking + coach giving beer to 11 year olds. Um,thanks, I'd rather not live a little if that's how you define it.

My sister was about 10 when she first saw it and had nightmares for months after. I wouldn't show it to 8 year olds.

Monsters Vs. Aliens.

My niece and nephew loved this movie when they were 7 & 10. My nephew even learned how to play the Beverly Hills Cop theme on the piano because of it.

Check www.commonsensemedia.org

They have great recommendations by age, plus detailed information about each movie.

Sky High
Zathura
Journey to the Center of the Earth (Brendan Fraser version)
Any of the Wallace and Gromit movies (my favorite is the Wrong Trousers)
The Incredibles
The Princess Bride

One I have never seen, but looking over lists of age appropriate movies, this sounded like it might be right for your group:
The Pride of the Yankees

Whatever movie you decide on, you might want to make sure it is okay w/the boy's parents.

Some parents are kinda weird in what they let their kids watch these days.

National Treasure. It's rated pg.

Check Common Sense Media. They have been very helpful to me!

Also, I LOVE The Sandlot. The only thing I can think of is that they say "sh*t" once or twice and they openly ogle a girl who one of them kisses--camera shows her rear end, her shape, etc etc. Marginally sexualized.
