Again, SO glad my kid has enough sense at the tender age of 18 to stay FAR away from the South. Sorry, Southerns, don't mean to offend, but if you're truly enlightened you would recognize some of the problems that continue to fester in the the South. FWIW - I would probably say the same thing about some areas of the Midwest and I grew up there!

Please. We just toured Southern schools, though not C of C. Beautiful campuses, great weather, and the people were so much friendlier than in the North. There's a reason why the Sunbelt keeps growing.

I have friends who teach there,and I do not think the unfortunate choice of the new president will detract from the student experience. The discussions going on are energizing and galvanizing for the liberals. And every state school is, to some extent, at the mercy of the political hacks appointed to serve on its governing board.

Please. The beautiful campuses and nice weather do not make up for the racism and xenophobia that still exist - often times very openly. The South is fine if you are white, straight and preferably a little wealthy. Also, beware of the Southern friendliness….they may be smiling to your face while planning your destruction behind your back (something told to me by a number of native Southerns). I'm not so sure about the Sunbelt growing since I don't have any statistics about that in particular, but hopefully if it grows and expands in terms of the types of people living there some of these negatives will soften with time. Probably not in my lifetime, though.

I went to CofC ten years ago and didn't encounter racism and xenophobia in any students or faculty, but certainly the southern city was a bit of a culture shock for me. I will say that I arrived with a bit of a NE chip on my shoulder, but the south grew on me after a time. I'm seriously dismayed by this article and hope the students and faculty will change the course of things.

Liberals arent the one's stripping money from college budgets because they don't like that college students are being assigned certain books.
