Granting your point, isn't there a big difference between "local Jewish leaders" and "the Jews", and mightn't ignoring that distinction be a major cause of anti[semitism?


NP. Definitely. You could even argue that it was just a subset of Jews (pharisees), at that particular place and time, who had an interest in seeing Jesus disposed of.

BTW, don't forget that those who followed Jesus were also Jews. Does that mean that "the Jews" also includes "the Christians"?
