Seriously - zombie jesus post removed?

Anonymous
There are a good number of Walking Dead fans on here. I has never really thought of Jesus as a zombie before but it makes sense. I thought it was a clever/funny post - not offensive.

It wasn't mocking the "believers" themselves - just pointing out similarities between various stories of people coming back from the dead.

Same here.

Please. My number one pet peeve is when people are unable to distinguish between "censorship" and the legitimate duties of a moderator. A blatant attempt to annoy other users of this website is the same as trolling. The purpose of a troll is to do the exact same thing. We have a clear policy against trolling.

I guess my point is that it's not just the troll post that gets removed (if pointing out the similarities between Jesus and zombies can truly be considered trolling), but all of the responses -- some thoughtful and others not so much -- that follow. This isn't babycenter. You have a group of highly intelligent, rational posters who are capable of eating trolls like candy if they have a problem with a post. If it's abusive that is one thing, but when people are actually responding and discussing I don't see the need to remove their words as well.

Of course you can moderate however you see fit. I am really glad this place exists and that it isn't another babycenter.

I learned about Lazarus. It was an educational thread.

Jesus wept when Lazarus died. He was a regular guy with regular feelings. Sometimes people forget this.

What I have learned this Easter that it is almost impossible to distinguish between devote Christians and people mocking Christians.

Of course it is trolling. Aside from resurrection, there are no similarities. Zombies don't ascend to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. Zombies weren't martyred. Zombies didn't die for our sins. And Jesus didn't try to eat brains. Zombies also have their origins in Voudou. Someone said the comparison was "clever." It wasn't. It was offensive. It would be like saying OneRepublic's "Apologize" should be the official theme song of Yom Kippur or by comparing Ramadan to having an eating disorder.

Go back to the religion board. Just because you can't appreciate the similarities/humor doesn't mean others can't.

I posted about Lazarus.

So did the thread go off the rails after that or was it just the whole feel of it that was offensive enough to remove?

It was deleted minutes after you posted.

I'm sometimes surprised when threads disappear, but I really appreciate that Jeff is so quick to respond to posts that I report, so I also realize that he's quick to respond to posts that others report. Thanks, Jeff.

Chill people, go gorge on some Cadbury eggs! Have you seen the restaurant where you can get deep fried Cadbury eggs for breakfast?
