OP, I have the freezer on the bottom fridge. Avoid this at all costs. It is SUCH a pain to have to empty everything out to get something on the bottom or just dig around in your freezer.

I've heard this from others, but how is this different from having to empty it out to reach the back of the freezer (if it's on top)? I'm not trying to be snotty. We're doing a reno and trying to decide about a stle fridge.

Usually, the freezer on top has a wider view of your stuff - meaning you can see everything from one angle. With the bottom drawer you can only see part of the stuff, since there is room behind where the drawer opens and the drawer is very deep (versus only the depth of the fridge). And, although there is usually a pull out basket, it's really for small stuff.

With my top freezer, there were two shelves that pulled out so I could easily reach stuff.

Honestly, you may want to survey your friends or do more research before deciding.
