I'm vegetarian and I love tofu, but I gotta disagree with this. In no way does tofu compare to cheese, any cheese.

Can you suggest one in MoCo? Thanks!

In MoCo there's Patel Brothers on Rockville Pike in Rockville. There's also Dana Bazaar closer to North Bethesda.

And I agree, tofu is no substitute for paneer. My husband tried to convince me of that when we first met, but I quickly disavowed him of that nonsense.

Not sure of Indian grocery stores in your area, but you may find one by googling it. Please don't use tofu. Ok, use tofu if you want to be healthy (a valid reason), but not because you think it will taste the same. Paneer has this delicious, fatty taste that cannot be replicated by tofu.

Ugh. No.

Tofu is not paneer like in taste or texture.

Homemade paneer with milk and lemon juice is FAR superior to that made with milk and vinegar.

I'm indian and a life long paneer eater....I have used twin oaks extra firm tofu to replace paneer and the texture is amazingly close. It definitely needs to be salted and spiced but my indian husband was floored to find out it was tofu and not paneer!
