Nice school, but much bigger than the OP specified. |
Def look at Western Washington. Great School even if a bit larger than OP stated. It's worth looking at. |
No, Oxy has become a SLAC. |
Pepperdine? |
Scripps has a 32% admit rate and a 25 percentile SAT score of 1260; unless the PP is AA there's no chance. |
People have to get over themselves with this kind of race baiting. Its a well established fact that athletes are the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action. Legacies also have a huge hook. |
^^ It's not race-baiting (I didn't write it). It's fact. And Scripps is a tiny women's school w/o a division I anything so the comments are appropriate. I probably could not get into my own SLAC and law school today unless I were a person of color, a legacy, first generation or a Division I athelete. Time have changed. |
check the stats on Chapman College, but it may have become too selective (certainly the film school is) than when I knew the schools out there. I think Pepperdine is too selective now to be on the list. I agree with some of the lists above, but beware that Biola is a bible college (BIble of Los Angeles = BIOLA). I believe all the Cal State schools (not to be confused with the U.C. schools) are overrun with Californians and the waitlists are reserved for Californians, but check that. See if Redlands still exists. Scipps, Oxy, Harvey Mudd, etc. are all SLACs now. What about Texas? Anyone know how TCU now ranks? There's also Baylor but that is rising, too. |
Thats my point. There are all sorts of hooks, why mention only race? |
If AA applicants got accepted at the rates I read on DCUM, they would be the marjority student body at EVERY college. We're talking about a very small percentage, believe it or not. Time to get back to the subject thread. |
Occidental
St Mary's USF Seattle University |
Assuming the school is truly rigorous, the problem I see in this profile is the SAT score. A 1650 SAT (comparable to a 24 ACT) isn't going to get you into many of the schools discussed on this thread. At my DC rigorous private school, even a B- average would be over achieving for a student who only tests at the 75% nationwide. |
This might help:

As anyone following the news the past few days understands, race is a different issue. The track record of legally sanctioned discrimination by race (whether Jim Crow or Affirmative Action) is not good. http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2009/11/03/elite#sthash.NeRdgb2w.dpbs It is time to move on and find better ways to support diversity and helping those of lower SES. Justice Roberts had it right. |
Maybe a few of the Cal state system schools might fit the bill
