Has Zara always had such ugly clothing?

I love some of the kids stuff.
I'm eyeing this for DD - jean jacket and navy dress with black tights about third row down on left side.

Their kids' stuff is amazing.

This is cute.

^^ YES! That's the dress and jacket! Thanks for enlarging it.

This is one website.

I asked a pal who works in theatre in NYC if Birks were the style.

She was speechless.

so

no

I saw a 20 something girl wearing Birks just this morning. Part of me is glad that sensible shoes are "in" (although I've always found Birkenstocks uncomfortable.) But another part of me is incredulous. I think this may be one of those fake trends that never catches on, like harem pants ...

Chunky flat shoes are all over the fashion blogs right now. Birkenstocks, slip-on sneakers, neon running shoes, oxfords, etc. Maybe some people are tired of the skinny jeans + heels look that has dominated for the past 5 years.

God, it is embarrassing how out-of-the-loop DC women are wrt fasion. Even if you aren't into Zara, or Birkenstocks, harem pants etc, they ARE actually in. Young-ish, fashion-forward women in many other cities do wear them with some frequency - Birks are a bit more of a casual, West-coast style, but yes, they are definitely in/featured in all of the style blogs/mags/etc. Check out Gretchen's Closet for a "real" 40-something year old woman wearing many of these trends.

Clothes are awful!!!
Also - their customer service is horrific. I bought a pair of jeans for my son and the snap popped off the first time we put them on him. The store wouldn't take them back even though I had the receipt. Corporate office said one person handles ALL of the customer service. I left 8+ messages over 3 months and never got a call back.

I won't even shop there again. It was always crap but now I know that they won't stand by their product so I'm done.

I agree with you. Zara's clothes are ugly. Ropa fea e #insípida.

Only shop there for baby clothes

+1. It never fit me well - alas, I am not tall and willowy - but it used to be attractive. Recently I've just blown through the store in seconds. It looks like an H&M outlet store.

It's European and Birkenstocks are in. Yay!

I'm in my 40s and like these looks. Probably couldn't pull off the dress, but it looks really practical and nice.
Anonymous
I quite like them too! Particularly the first dress. The print in the second one however would make a 40 plus woman look frumpy.

Anonymous
I like the first two. And that print is only frumpy if the fabric is stiff, like a button-down shirt. If it has some drape I think it's fine.

The last one is boxy and ugly.
