Seriously! I am in the *wrong* business! |
| Yes, the recipes are delicious, but it's WAY too expensive and the recipes are too complicated/take too long for them to bill it as easy. Definitely not a weeknight meal for us. |

We've used Plated a couple times, but have been pretty consistently using Blue Apron (same concept, more delicious (imo), and better value) for about a year. blueapron.com
Initially I wanted meals for 3 (2 adults, one teen half the time, one 4 y.o.) but they don't have that. It's 2 or 4. We get the meal plan for 2 and it is almost always enough for 3, sometimes 4. I LOVE IT. My husband thought it was too expensive, but we spend $60 and that's 3 dinners a week, often with some leftover. No waste because they give you the exact amount you need. Varied (and very yummy) recipes. Healthy - I learn about new ingredients and cook homemade dinners every night. The ingredients are high quality (organic meat). Just taking out the weekly 'big shop' is a surprising relief on our schedule. |

We used Plated this week because they had a deal where you got 4 meals for $20 as an introductory offer. I choose a coffee/chipotle steak with an Italian bread salad with roasted pepper and poached salmon with yogurt dill sauce, wilted kale and quinoa. Everything was delicious and not that hard to prepare. I loved having all the ingredients pre-measured for me. It made a somewhat ambitious meal doable for a week night. I saved both recipes because we liked them so much.
That being said...it was a steal at $5/meal but I would never pay $15/meal for it. However, if the price dropped to $10/plate it might be something I would order once per month for a busy week. |
| We use Blue Apron. I have been interested in taking advantage of the new customer deal with Plated but haven't really seen menus that were as interesting to me as what we get from BA. I do like that Plated seems to offer you choice in what entrees you get, versus the pre-set menus on BA. I guess it just hasn't been compelling enough for me to sign up. |
| I tried Scratch DC, $27-30 a meal but it was very delicious- I have re-created my favorite one for much cheaper so in the end I think it was worth it to be able to branch out and try something new! |
