No, it was said admiringly (and with the thought that I really need to get rid of those couple of post-holiday pounds). As we age our metabolism slows, so we can't eat what we did at 20. It's a simple fact. I eat between 1200 and 1400 calories a day with an emphasis on protein so I don't lose my strength. Up until the last year or so I could eat 2,000+ calories a day and never gain an ounce. Going from eating whatever I have wanted to having to actually pay attention to what I eat in the year or so feels like being able to eat nothing to me. If that poster is over 40, as I am, she either already has discipline or hasn't had THE BIG METABOLISM CHANGE catch up to her yet.

As for mastering exercise, let me know if you know what a p menu oly meso cycle is and whether you routinely lift a multiple of your body weight. If so, we'll chat. Otherwise, I think I've got it covered.

I am the 19:30 poster. I have three children but I work out and eat healthy.

I'm 40 and 5'7. I weigh about 127 lbs and I wear a size 27 in Seven For All Mankind jeans or a 4 in most womens clothes. I've had 4 pregnancies and gained about 30-40 lbs each time except my last baby which cost me more like 45 lbs. I stay busy chasing kids all day, but I have no time to get to the gym. I am lucky to have a good metabolism, and that's it. I'm lucky. I have utmost respect for women who bust their butts dieting and working out, because that could just as easily be me. I eat fairly healthy, nibbling all day, and skip breakfast daily. I don't eat until around 11:30 for lunch. Pretty much break most rules re: dieting.

I know my day is coming when I hit the big shift in metabolism. I do have a fat roll of at least an inch from loose skin post-baby. I remind myself of my big male neutered cat whose gut swings and jiggles when he walks! I am trying not to pinch, pull or poke at it when I'm looking in the mirror.

to the OP: remember the self-selection of where you posted. Women who are going to respond likely are ok with their size and women who respond have an interest in fashion otherwise they would not be on this forum.

OP here.

Ladies: We are here to support each other. The phrase "jealous much" is obnoxious, in and of itself.

I am not really interested in what you weigh. It tells so little.

I started this poll after looking at other polls and listening to people say that women over a certain age have no business dressing in such a way, getting a brazilian wax, wearing certain make-up and whatever.

My belief is that age is a number and if you have the body for the clothes after having the babies and are over 40, you should go for it. I'm trying to get an idea of the dress/jean sizes of many of us over 40 that beared our own children are. That's it. I am using this not to judge others but to think about myself. 42, size-8-10: do i have any business in 7 for mankind jeans or sleeveless anything etc.

Plus, I'm wondering not just about size, but what kinds of jeans you feel comfortable in and wear. My mother weighs less than me but I am in better shape. I can pull off Lucky Brand jeans and I don't think she can. Arms start to wobble if you don't really work at it and/or get injections as you age, no matter what you eat. These are my questions.

Yes, I know. Please see explanation above. Women not interested in this forum at all probably are not going to give me much insight into what I'm thinking about. I'm looking for responses from women who are still committed to fighting the battle.

Peace and love to all. No fighting!

I'm the Joes Jeans person from above. I wear Joes because I have pretty well-developed glutes but am otherwise thin and, frankly, flat-chested (miss those pregnancy boobs!). I consulted a personal shopper and she chose Joes for me because the pocket design doesn't scream "look at my firm but disproportionate rear end".

Pushups, pullups and dips do wonders for your arms without much effort. I have finally embraced sleeveless after years of avoiding it because I never did anything for my arms and hate that my veins show.

If you have the body for x then wear x. I wear things that hide my abs because I am not comfortable with them, but I am overall thin and in shape, so I bare almost everything else (unless I haven't been able to make my wax appointments, but that's a different topic!). 42, two kids, do Botox but not willing to brave the tummy tuck...

Remember this is anonymous! I'm trying to get an idea of what is the median in this area.

You won't get a true median. For those who are not happy with their bodies, they're likely to skip over this topic.

Right, like I was about to do.

I'm 42, just had a baby, and wear size 18.
