unusual foods or dishes that your kids like

Mine are 3 and 6 and they love:

Chopped raw scallions
Furikake (dried up egg yolks, fish, and seaweed that is sprinkled on rice)
Canned tuna with mayo
ANY seafood, I mean any, especially squid, jellyfish, and salmon roe
Chicken livers
kimchi
Chicken cartilage

Not huge cheese eaters but my kids go for hard aged Gruyere over any other cheese, any day.

Half of this stuff makes me want to barf. They get it from their dad.

What do you mean they eat chicken cartilage? Never heard of eating that? The bones or...? I recall a coworker in VA who used to say I was 'wasting' my chicken wings because I didn't nibble it down to the point where I'd eat half the bone and the whole 'wing' section like he would do.

And my toddler grandchild likes quinoa rice

Cartilage can be eaten grilled at Japanese yakitori restaurants (in Japan, I haven't found any here) but my 3 year old daughter will strip fried chicken/wing bones of their cartilage and really seems to enjoy it.

My son has gobbled up raw oysters since he was 3.

If you've eaten a McNugget--you've eaten cartilage...and probably beak.

i have always given my kids whatever we eat so they eat almost anything with very few exceptions. Some of the foods they love: escargot, eel sushi, smoked fish, tuna tartare, octopus..we don't eat much red eat but when we do I make them lamb chops which they adore. I love that they will try anything, makes going out with them so easy. They are now 10, 8 and 5. We were at a kids gym class once and they went around the room asking all the kids what their favorite breakfast was and my three year old answered "crumpet with jam" the instructor looked at me like I was insane-it was funny.

DD (7) loves cold cucumber soup - plain yogurt, shredded cucumber, dill, garlic, salt and olive oil.

She also can probably eat an entire package of feta cheese if I let her, although to me that is not unusual, feta cheese is like a food group where I come from

Crumpet and jam? Sounds pretentious, that is why she looked at you funny. Had nothing do with the actual "unusual food".

Coconut shrimp curry - you can get a spice pack from an Indian store for fish curry. use that, onions, garlic, and a can of coconut milk.

Quinoa - we add chicken stock while boiling it and that seems to really help with moisture and taste.

Roasted brussel sprouts. Quarter, toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 for 10 minutes, flip, bake for another 10. So delicious. If it's not tasty, then you didn't use enough oil & salt.
