Date night restaurants in Rockville area

It's amazing some of the places people would recommend for a date night. Our threshold is someplace we won't/can't take our kids to. A bunch of the places mentioned here are kid friendly and would be off our list: Seasons 52, Founding Farmers, Amici Mei, Cava, Sugo, Brio, Clyde's, Not your Average Joes, Hard Times, Matchbox, Mosaic.

We moved to Rockville to stay away from snobby people like you. We would go to Bethesda but we would have to listen to you tell off the waitress. No thanks!

This was rude. Where did she say anything about living or dining in Bethesda?

There is a little sushi restaurant on Medical Center Way, right by the Shady Grove Nursing Home and the new Johns Hopkins campus. It's just off Key West. Can't remember the name - maybe something like Blue Fin. Love it.

Either way she is a snot and her comments were snotty. Sometime date night consists of watching the Maryland game at a bar, Hard Time is fine for that. Sometime date night consists of Bloody Mary's in the morning because the kids were at sleep overs and won't be home anytime soon, Matchbox.

Amici Mei has great outdoor spot to watch people and have a glass of wine.

Date night is not a lift altering event, it's just and hour or to two to spend time together.

I don't understand HER attitude, like this is MY DATE NIGHT attitidude. It is self centered. The PP is clueless.

I dunno. I live in Bethesda and I thought it was kind of spot on.

Seasons 52, Amici Mei, and Clyde's are all fine, upscale adult atmospheres, with good menus and good (well, OK) wine lists. The fact that some people bring their well-behaved children hardly turns them into kid zones. We enjoy them regularly on dates.

I think OP picked up on 7:28's condescending attitude. A little return snark wasn't out of place.

How do you know this person lives in Bethesda and I have no clue where you came up with telling off the waitress.

I don't think she was implying that it needed to be lift altering but rather taking the opportunity to explore places that they normally would not be able to frequent.

Kids or no kids some of these recommendations are just plain bad. Not Your Average Joe's is bad.

Steak restaurants = date night to me!

Are you honestly "amazed" that people would offer up Amici Mei, Sugo, and Cava as good date night restaurants? Why? I've had several delicious and romantic (and expensive and dimly lit) meals with my husband at each of these places, despite that fact that there were a few well-behaved kids on the premises.
