Also a single mom of a child with multiple disabilities and Dad doesn't attend anything. I schedule the Nanny to come with me to all appointments. There is no way I could manage otherwise. We are often at the hospital for 4-5 hours min as he requires a lot of testing on a regular basis. If you're in DC and have HSCSN you could possibly get hours for someone (nurse/home health aid) to attend appointments with you or use respite for help. I'm now divorced due to lack of help/involvement from DH so I'm in no position to offer advice there. Hang in there. I'm hanging on by a thread but somehow we manage to make it through. |
| Single mom here too. Have a 19 year old with severe special needs and her father has not been involved with her care for over 10 years. (Not one IEP meeting, not one doctor's appt...) In fact, he claims she is just lazy and not trying enough. |
