Kensington Forest Glen waitlist?

I was told that we have no shot until he is 3 (18 months from now). I'm wondering if that's a safe bet or if I should look for other options.

Also, 09:39, did you find any other options? I also need full-time care and I'm not familiar with others preschools in the area. Well, there are a lot of montessori programs but they are all far too expensive for our family.

Thanks!

I'd like to know this too! And what are their rates?

PP here. I believe the rates are approx. $1200/month. No clue if we'll ever be able to take advantage of that.

I got a spot for my kid in the two's class. Was notified about 2 weeks ago. We had been on the list since before my child was born (we live within walking distance of the center and it's always been our first choice.) So, 2 years on the waitlist.

This is a long shot--but we have a full-time spot starting this fall but only need care Monday-Thursday. I would LOVE to find a family with a two-year-old who would like to take our spot on Fridays. I have posted on my local listservs and got tons of interest, but no commitment.

Are any of you with two-year-olds interested in taking our Friday spot? If so, we can exchange contact info and I will put you in touch with the center director. I need to get this spot filled ASAP (by next week).

Thanks for the feedback re: timing. Unfortunately, I need full-time care, so Fridays alone wouldn't work for me (plus DS is only 18 months right now). May I ask what local listserve you refer to? I am moving to the area and I'd like to get connected to the community. Thanks!

It's called Silver Spring Moms. It's a yahoo group. If you're moving to Silver Spring, you can provide your email and I will request that you be added. A current member has to add you.

No, a current member does not have to add you, it's that too many people are not able to find the group and request admission from the moderator on their own. Anyway, the Silver Spring moms 2003 list is a lot busier and works the same way.

Yes, thanks for the feedback on the timing. We will get on the list as soon as I'm prego! Curious what folks in the area do for the first two years- in home daycare or nanny-share?

I visited the school today and was told that because they opened a third 2s class, they were able to accommodate everyone on the list whose child was the right age. Has anyone's experience been different?

Just in the interest of letting others know about experiences with the wait list...my son is in a two's class this year. We were on the waitlist since the time my now 6 y.o. was maybe 18 mos. They continued us on the waitlsit when my daughter was four and we still did no t have a spot, but they transferred the name for her then unborn brother! I think they now have three, or it may be four classes of twos at Kensington Forest Glen. They added the newest class just this year and this may improve odds for future classes, but it is an incredible value in this area, and this is probably why you don't see much movement with families. I think the only thing that may compare price-wise is Rockville Daycare Assoc.

for the three year old class we had about a 9 month wait
