How many days in Disneyworld?

Anonymous
Definitely Park Hoppers! Our first visit we didn't have Hoppers (didn't realize we could add on that option since family was paying) and were staying at the Contemporary. It sucked not being able to wander back over the the MK in the afternoon or evening.

OP here--thank you everyone for the helpful advice. I didn't realize Disney had so many different parks. I just assumed it would be one thing. We are planning on going during spring break.

Look up some of the Disney blogs....so much good information out there and lots of tips and tricks from experienced Disney people.

This spring break???

You might be a little late to the game if you are just starting to plan now...

I agree. If you are talking about this spring break.... I just wouldn't. Sorry

really? would all the hotels be booked up already?

When are you going?

The first time we went as a family, our dd was 18m and we booked 7 days, to return on the 8th. We stayed on property, had park hooper and also booked the water parks. It was end of July so it was very hot.

Because we had a little one, we skipped tons of rides that we didn't want to do either - like roller coasters or anything crazy. I remember wanting to stay at least more 2 days to enjoy the pools and water park more. We took it very slow and it was great.

Second time, child was almost 3 and we booked 10 days to stay. We did park hooper but didn't do the pools because it was winter (xmas). I remember thinking I was ready to come back by day 8. It was crazy crowded but we did fine - we took it slow, lots of fast passes, lots of visits to princesses and the like. We didn't do any crazy rides because we aren to into that. We stayed on property again and we had a car this time around, which we used to go to UNIVERSAL one day to visit Harry Porter. It was one of the worst decisions we ever made - 600.00 for a day of hell. HP was actually closed for a good while due to overcrowding so all that money just to use crappy Dr. Seuss rides… they are not really crappy, but they are not certainly worth $600.00.

later we managed to get into HP and at least I had opportunity to take some pics and have some "beer." I will never again set my foot there, at least for the next 10 years or so after my children are into HP themselves. SpiderMan was cool too…

Anyway, since we could not use the pools, we had too much time in our hands and things got repetitive…

We are going back again soon (child s 4) and this time we will stay 10 days. We will stay on property and I have booked the water parks as well - If it is too cold to use them, I am screwed.

I always book park hooper because it does not add that much - like $80.00 for the whole trip or something. I usually use it only once or twice since I think it is too much hassle to go form one park to another with young children. But towards the end of the trip is nice actually.

It's not so much about that, I'm sure you could get something, though not necessarily the one you want--and it will be at a high price.

The crowds will be pretty bad. It's likely that most of the restaurants are already booked, especially the popular character ones. I just don't think you will have a very good "first Disney Experience" going at such a crowded time, and without much prior planning...

The crowds will be horrible during spring break, you will not enjoy it.
Check undercover tourist.com for a crowd calendar and recs to which park to visit on any given day, plus they have tons of info and blogs with advice.
We never do park hoppers because we are a family of 6 and it adds way to much money to an already expensive vacation. We also stay off-site. One park a day works for us and our kids.

OP, I am a pp at 10:37 and 18:40

Are you open to other times besides spring break? Are you opposed to taking your kids out of school for the trip?

Why are you doing spring break? Is it because of your work schedule because your kds are young so you can easily take them out of school and go at a less busy time.

Also, this is a busy weekend and they have a new fast pass system go to disboards and read the thread about how crazy the fast pass line has been today.

If this is going to be your one and only trip, don't go over spring break. You wont enjoy it.

As for fast pass, it doesn't work for our family. We are 1 park a day people. Don't get them originally. If you go to the parks and think you do need them you can always go to guest relations and add them on

We just got back on Tuesday. Took my just-turned 7 year-old and just-turned 5 year-old. We did Hollywood Studios from 4-10pm the first night, the next two days at Magic Kingdom (10-6 the first day, 10 - 5 the second day, left to go to dinner at a resort, then back for fireworks and rides until 10:30pm) then Animal Kingdom day 4 from 10-2:30.

I could have used another few hours in AK but we had a flight to catch, and good thing, since the 5 year-old started her meltdown at 2pm on day 4 at AK. I was surprised she lasted that long with the late nights (usually in bed by 8) and all the walking around and excitement. I think four days was plenty. The only exception would be if you were going in the spring/summer and you could leave the parks early to go hang out at your pool each day.

Do not get the Hopper. It will be a waste of your money.

I don't know who in your family is going, but we stayed in the Art of Animation. It is the newest resort, and really wonderful. HUGE pool, plus two (or three?) other pools. The little mermaid standard rooms are small, but the suites there (either Cars, Lion King or Finding Nemo themed) are really nice with mini-kitchenettes, a murphy bed, pull-out couch and separate queen bedroom. We slept six. I would highly recommend those suites. We stayed in a Cars suite and it was awesome.

Do not stay at the All-Star or Pop resorts since the busses go to ALL the resorts to drop off and pick up. Busses go from Art of Animation directly to (and from) each park so you don't have to stop and pick-up (or drop off) others. Huge bonus.

We found getting to parks at 10 was fine.

Yes, but PP you were there at a very low crowd time. OP wants to go during a very high crowd time. It will be a completely different experience.

If this is your first trip, I highly recommend a Disney travel agent, their services are free and they can help you plan everything from itineraries and dining reservations. A good friend of mine from college, elyssa, is really great- https://www.facebook.com/mickeytravels. we've used her 3 times as have several of our friends! Also, touringplans.com is really helpful for planning and crowd levels. Have fun!

OP here again. We work full-time and will be taking the week of spring break off because the school is closed. The only times we would be able to go are during the summer, spring break or christmas break. I guess we will be screwed as far as the overcrowding. I appreciate all the links and will be doing some more research. If I can't pull it off for spring break, I will try for the summer where we can have a longer vacation.
