Fresh IVF
Microdose Lupron: 20 units twice a day for 11 days FET Lupron: 20 units once a day for 7 days, 10 units once a day for next 7 days |
| I've read a lot about long term effects of lupron and I'm not sure if I could take it based on that. I've had no experience with it. |
|
I'm 21 years old, and I'm on lupron now have been for 3 months and I have another 3 doses left (6 months total) each month I experience different side effects.
Month 1- hot flashes, acne, and insomnia Month 2- hot flashes, insomnia, BAD mood swings and depression. Month 3- has been a little diffrent, I can now tell when I have a mood swing and try to control them. I still have hot flashes and insomnia but the worst is I'm experiencing night terrors and quite frankly scare the hell out of me. I would like to ask if anyone else has experienced this as we'll? I can take everything except the night terrors. Each dose I get my side effects Change. I've had a few more but these are the big ones I suffer from. Please let me know if anyone else out there has these terrors. Anything would help! |
Please talk to your doctor. Some people have minimal effects but others have difficulties tolerating this drug. The doctors just assume you are OK until you tell them. |

I took lupron twice- the first time, I had the normal side effects.
The second time I felt so insanely bad so quickly that I thought that just tipping my head would make me throw-up. I could barely walk. a friend walked into the room, glanced at my face, and said I had turned completely white and that I looked like hell instantly. I went upstairs with her assistance, lay down, and slept for 6 hours straight. Doc took me off of it. |
| I do think it's important to differentiate between Lupron as part of an infertility protocol and Lupron prescribed for other reasons. My understanding is the dosage as well as the length of time you take it are dramatically different. |
|
For IVF you take it for a short period of time. I recall drinking alot of water, I think to fend off headaches
(It was 5 years ago now). In all my time on infertility boards, I never heard of anyone suffering from anything other than minor side effects from lupron during IVF. You may be over thinking this, OP. |
|
Why don't you try the IVF protocol once and see how it goes for you? If you notice side effects from the Lupron, then you can talk with your doctor about a different protocol if you have to do additional rounds.
For me, the Lupron side effects were unnoticeable compared to the estrogen and progesterone effects. (Migraines, a couple random crying jags, giant sore boobs, and itchy welts & bruises all over my butt! And all of that pales next to the physical changes if you actually get pregnant ...) |
| I posted recently the 21 year kid taking it for 6 months was me and thank you for y'all response! What is IVF? And yeah my nausea is insanely bad this dose as we'll. I'm so messed up! Lol |
