Same. Would love to find something I like more but they pay me well and I have great flexibility - while I have a kid still loving at home, that's most important.

I'm an editor. Oh, but it doesn't pay all that well. Interesting and flexible, though.

Sometimes another $70k feels worth it (travel for the family, private school if we want it, etc) and other times it just doesn't. I keep reminding myself that with an HHi near $300k, in our early 30s, if I can't make retirement I won't have anyone to blame but myself and that when I'm sitting in my death bed the time I'll have spent with family will probably be my biggest happiness or my biggest regret, not whether I retired with $5M or $10M.

Not a humble brag, recognize I'm fortunate, just occasionally torn.

It's not worth it to switch. Formerly Big Law, now in house. I took a 60% pay cut and it was worth it!!!

I'm an IT business analyst. Love my job, pays well and I work from home 100%. I do have to do overnight travel once every 6-8 weeks but I actually like that. Early morning calls are the norm but I can pretty much call it a day by around 3. I make 130K.

I enjoy the work, travel to lots of interesting places, my colleagues are young, intelligent and motivated, I feel like I'm accomplishing something worthwhile, and it's family-friendly. Good job security, benefits, and a reasonably good salary.

this is me, too, only with very limited travel and my colleagues aren't especially young, though they are intelligent and motivated. I love feeling like my work makes a positive contribution to the world.

Addressing some of the questions above:

I started out after college working for a consulting firm that specialized in a particular area. After a few years, I went back to school to get a master's degree in public policy. Since then I have worked for several different government agencies with this particular focus. My current job I have held for 9 years. The work is very interesting and I have unparalleled access to excellent data allowing for deeply satisfying analytic work. (Much of the work I do is similar to what academic researchers do, but I have better and more immediate access to data they can only dream about, regular and reliable funding, and a more direct and immediate impact on policy development and implementation.)

I worked part-time for several years. Now I am FT. Flexible schedule, great benefits, great job security. Salary ~ $135k.

Business Systems & Software development. I manage other BA's. We work on global projects so my coworkers and team are located all over the place. Most meetings are done via conference calls/webex. I'm not a programmer but my role is very hands-on working with the development teams and our customers to design solutions that help the business.
