Work Sample

How have people noted the school grade and dates on the work samples?

Do you submit originals or make color copies?

Our AART said work samples should be from the current school year only. But if you've got something really good from an earlier grade and you don't think the date matters, I would just leave it undated and not mention when it's from.

np here - this is the opposite of what we were told. The teachers are pulling some work samples and we were told to turn in other work samples from home projects and they will pick the best. I have things (stories, artwork, geeky stuff) my DC did at home that we are turning in.

So does this mean that not all the work samples I submit to the local committee actually gets forwarded to the central committee?
Do you know how many total work samples they send to the central committee?

This actually would be helpful information to have since I have a couple of work samples that I want to submit but are a bit iffy about them. If the local committee can weed out the better ones in the packet I submit, that will make me feel a lot better.

You may want to ask your AART how they do it at your school. The total number or work samples allowed is 6. The school MUST submit 2 work samples produced in school and parents MAY submit up to 4 additional. At DC's school, the AART said she gives the 2nd grade teachers a folder for each kid in September to start saving exemplary work. If the parents submit nothing, the school CAN fill in up to 4 additional work samples and our school does. If the parents submit work samples and the AART thinks the ones she has are better, she said she'll call the parent to discuss swapping what she has in. I don't know how other schools handle it.
