Did we do Downton Abbey: Season 4, Ep 4 review yet?

I hate that the onus is on Anna and Mrs Hughes to keep Bates from killing the valet. I want Anna to grab Bates by the balls and say, "you want to go back to jail and be raped on a cold, hard floor, brothertrucker? Because I've been there and I do NOT recommend it!"

I actually like Edith this season, and I love how Mary shows her Violet side with her snide comments to her.

And I LOVE the clothes! Aside from Mary's purple coat that looks 5 sizes too big.

Mrs. Hughes lied when she sore on her mother's grave that she did not know who raped Anna. Bates could have just as easily lied to Mrs. Hughes saying he would not go after the valet or the "perp."

I am glad Bates and Anna are reconciled.

I like that Tom's socialism is coming to the fore. This is a time when England was just grappling with socialism. It went full bore after WWII, thence the NHS and socialized medicine. The way Tom wants to run the farms of Downton is what will eventually happen with British agriculture.

Am I the only one rooting for Mrs. Crowley and Dr. Clarkson to get together. They are both lonely, lovely people who would mean a lot to each other. Clarkson is (for whatever reason) bedazzled by her. It is a wonderful story of "older" love.

Did Lady Grantham actually emote last night in discussing Sybil with Braxtong. That must have taken a week of acting lessons.

Mary is becoming bitchy again and I like her more that way.

Edith is getting screwed over by another man. Or not. She might just break free of the family and go to Germany and join the Nazis with Gregson.

I'm not sure how much more they can advance the story in time because Violet is such a needed element. How much longer can she live? Morbid, but I do wonder.

I thought so, too! I felt bad about it, but there was some odd about the lower half of her face!

She's just a kid who does not look like either Sybil or Branson. But she's cute, not odd, just an average looking little kid. We're used to seeing picture perfect babies in magazines and TV. Look around at the children in your world, and you'll find that this kid is cuter than most.

I LOVE Edith this season. Her clothes, her new spunkiness - LOVE. Too bad she's about to get screwed over, again. No idea what was up with the doctor she went to.

Agree Anna and Bates are better together, but I totally think he killed the ex and don't know where they'll go with his capacity to kill (again).

Rose is horrible and I wish they'd get rid of her.

The old ladies, even Violet, are boring now. I like the doctor, though.

I agree with the PP about Mrs. crawley and the very handsome doctor.

This is really the only love storyline that is going on that is captivating.

I so hope they get together. I have been hoping this for a few seasons now.

Well I think she's going to get an illegal abortion and have complications….wait, did that happen to someone already in this series? Or was that Upstairs/Downstairs? Ok, IF it did not happen yet to a character in this series, that's my bet for Edith.

And, re the head servant in the house, the huffy one who wasn't that nice to Mr. Mosley (sorry, spacing on his name)…it's sad that his life is so small, that he hangs so much on a "romance" consisting of a girl he barely got to walk to the car once. Then I think, well it's so beautiful that so little can make him happy, and that's important because his life really is very small.

No. There was something last season between them and she thought he was wooing her - turns out he just wanted her help with something. She was really embarassed because she let herself think about falling in love with him. Blah, blah, blah. But there's obviously something going on - why else is he on so much?
