Hardy---did they change number of OOB spots available?

.... or move or go private

Many years ago when I was worrying about whether my OOB kid in Hyde would get into Hardy, there was a similarly low number of official OOB spots listed. It turns out that all the OOB kids at feeder schools like Hyde were being counted as if they were going to move on to Hardy and so their spots weren't being listed as OOB.

Dont know if that's still the case and in any event it won't help if you're not in a feeder school but maybe that's what's going on.

^^that seems likely, but why the big change from one year to the next?

Key and Mann PTAs have a working group dedicated to (a) making Hardy an attractive option for IB families and (b) getting IB families to go to Hardy.

It's not unreasonable to suspect they've made progress.

That is great the elementary parents are looking ahead. Exactly the way to build schools!

Some probably. As for myself, I'm moving nowhere from the neighborhood, about to buy a second condo here. Also not going private as I can supplement his middle school curriculum if I find that Hardy has shortcomings.

If this is true (only 15 OOB) it is fantastic!!! If they get rid of the OOB chaos/undisciplined kids, our kiddos will go. Phew, perhaps no Bethesda for us. A lot of us (Hyde parent here) are watching this closely ....

Once they get rid of so many OOB, hardy will be much more desirable than Deal (smaller nicer school, awesome principal, no insane crowding).

Ummm, my seventh grader is an OOB kid. Are you saying he is undisciplined, because I would beg to differ. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? "chaos/undisciplined kids?"

Have you walked the halls of the school? Have you been to band concerts and basketball games? I have. I've seen middle schoolers acting like middle schoolers, but I haven't seen this "chaos" to which you refer. On another Hardy thread, I'm the one who called my kid in and asked if he had ever seen a fight in the year and half he's been at Hardy. His response was "Once last year and it only lasted a few seconds because the teachers were right there."

Please do a better job of keeping your racist comments to yourself PP. And while you're at it, leave DC and take your "kiddos" to Bethesda. God forbid I ever have to interact with you at the Safeway or Surfside.

I believe the correct term is "troll post."
