| I don't think that any of the doctors are warm and fuzzy at Shady Grove. Why would you want them to be? We have been working with the for just over a year and I just want them to be truthful and realistic with us. It is a terrible road to be on, not to be able to stay pregnant, and I just want honesty. Thank is what I am getting with my doctor. |
| I agree Dr. Osborne may be a good fit. She was caring, but also no-nonsense. I appreciated both sides of the coin. |
Warm and fuzzy and honest are not mutually exclusive. Thought Doyle and Osborne were both caring and very sensitive but also direct and candid. |
I'm not sure what you're questioning, PP. I had two five day blasts transferred - one AB and one AC. Neither were the ideal. They are now my three month old twins. SGFC discarded my seven other embryos because they hadn't fertilized correctly and / or didn't progress. What was there for me to wiegh in on? I certainly would t want to transfer crappy embryos bit never felt tha SGFC was only out to boost their stats - they would have transferred anything that looked remotely viable. |
| I've been with SGF for over a year and I like my RE but i hate their system and i hardly see my RE or my nurse. They are both responsive to email and phone calls but I get the feeling they are not really in charge of my care and just following the SGF protocol which I have followed 3 times with BFN's. They have never altered the protocol and Im wondering if anyone ever considered a different option. I have united health care so I would have to pay OOP for any other clinic. |
| Dr. Moon is wonderful. |
I was a SG patient for a long stretch and they do have standard protocols, but there isn't just one. Have you set up an appt with your RE after a failed cycle to discuss your options for going forward? While they may not suggest it, I would definitely do it. You are in charge of your care and if you don't feel like they are "on" your case, then push them! I always found that the in-person meetings with my RE were the best and then I would sit down with my nurse afterwards to review everything. |
They will not freeze anything that is less than perfect, but they will transfer what has developed. I never once made it to blast - both times I transferred, we did it at 3 days due to embryo quality at the 3 day mark (only 3 made it to 3 days on both occasions). I now have a 6-month old from that. |

I, too, transferred from Sacks to Shady Grove "for a whole host of reasons."
I literally love Shady Grove, despite the lack of warm fuzz. We see Dr. Widra, who may not be as "warm" as Sacks, but is actually a lot easier to talk to and understand. (Sacks kind of gets off track and off topic by telling his own personal anecdotes. Widra sticks to the script.) For warmth, I've heard that Dr. Anitha Nair is wonderful. |
Please give more details on this-I'm scheduled to see Dr. Doyle... |
| Dr. Widra is my doctor and I think he is good. Maybe not warm and fuzzy, but I trust him. Unfortunately, I have had to see Dr. Moon a few times and she is the worst. She is rude and condescending, and made me feel dumb for every question I have. Avoid Dr. Moon. |
| I found Dr. Osborne to be very warm, caring, and careful. She was just the right fit for me. |
Dr. Doyle did one of my retrievals and I was in love!!!! . Dr. Widra is more my personality, and Dr. Greenhouse is uber nice, but I wouldn't call him warm and fuzzy. I did not like Dr. Moon or dr. Osborne. I liked Dr. Nair. (God, I've met too many of their doctors.....)

Difft strokes for difft folks. Some want directness, some want their hands held. I want a little bit of both. Cold, hard truth, but hold my hand while you do it, please. |
Shady Grove no longer does 3 day transfers. |
