Where do you keep your emergency fund?

I always keep about a grand in the house. I know its irrational but Im an old school Italian and its how I was raised. I keep 10 grand liquid but have other accounts I could liquidate within days if needed. I use to have 30k just sitting and decided that was a waste of money.

I actually have 30 k sitting in a savings account and barely growing. Any other options?

We have half in a savings account & half in laddered CDs w/our credit union. The return on the CDs isn't great, but even if we had to pay an early withdrawal penalty we'd come out ahead of the savings acct.

We have some in a money market account and the rest in laddered CDs. We would take the money out of the money market account and then hit the CDs one by one if necessary.

We keep it in a savings account because having $20k gives us "priority" status at the bank...which means a slightly higher interest rate, and perks that apply to our checking accounts such as free ATM fees, free checks, etc.

I have $10k vacuum sealed in a freezer storage bag and placed inside of the top of my toilet tank.

We have $20,000 or so in a money market, $15,000 in a savings account at our bank, and $5,000 in cash in the gun safe.
