Good job, OP! That's an amazing accomplishment. I wouldn't rule out a 5K, even if you just run a few by yourself until you feel more comfortable. I'd recommend a distance app like Endomondo or a gadget like a Fitbit that tracks distance (Fitbit also tracks steps, calories, etc., and Endomondo also tracks pace but not steps or calories). This way you will know exactly when you've completed 3.1 miles. (Easier on a treadmill) Whenever you're ready, there are plenty of 5Ks (especially those for charities or the theme runs like "color runs") that attract new runners. Like PPs said, you can easily do one with the goal of finishing, and not worry about being slow or being last. Plenty of people walk and run in intervals, or walk the whole thing. I've been running for about 3 years and every time I tackle a new race distance, my goal is just to finish. You can take pride in your accomplishments and keep at it, don't ever worry about being "too slow." Keep up the good work!
