Both our local Giant and Save way are perfectly fine. Depends on where you live, I guess.

When you say fine how do they compare to wegman and whole food |

We gave up on Safeway and Giant long ago. Gross.
We buy our organic dairy/produce at Whole Foods, our asian stuff at H-Mart, and the occasional fun processed snack/entree at Trader Joe's. I do the budget, and can tell you it's not been more expensive! This is because the organic things are overpriced at Giant/Safeway. Plus I don't trust them, and the produce is wilted on the shelf already. |
And the procurement process relates to union employment, how? What is the correlation and what are your data? |
|
OP, I like the produce at Giant and Safeway.
It is a lot better than when I was growing up. Also, people were not as fussy about everything... and certainly less over weight then. |
Giant and Safeway are both union shops. So I guess the unions are to blame if staff are incompetent. |
| Get your fruits, vegetables, eggs and fresh bread at the Farmer's Market if you fresh, local produce. As for grocery stores I prefer Harris Teeter. |

I buy lots of produce at the Friendship Heights Whole Foods. As recently as yesterday I had to pick through both green beans and asparagus. I recall a recent trip to WF when they didn't have either cilantro or Italian parsley.
If I have time I usually go to Giant first, then go to WF for whatever I can't find. But there's plenty of good stuff at Giant, even the somewhat quirky FH Giant. |
