It didn't completely straighten my hair - I use a round brush and get a good curl at the bottom.
I loved this procedure and can't wait to get it done again in the fall. The only problem is that chlorine strips it, so it's not worth doing in the summer. (I'm dreading when my hair starts frizzing up again.) |
| that's a problem for me. my hair is smooth in the winter, but frizzes terribly in the DC humidity so not being able to do it in the summer wouldn't make it very useful for me. |

Hi girls
I m writing from Turkey I wonder the name of the therapy and do I order from internet? |
| I have very curly hair that I refuse to blow dry often, since I find it damages my hair. Plus I work out every day, so I need low maintenance hair. I'm considering the keratin treatment, but I'm concerned because: (1) I really am nervous about damaging my hair; (2) I've heard it wears off faster if you sweat every day, and I sweat a lot when I work out; and (3) I don't want stick straight hair, just smooth waves. Anyone have any experience they'd like to share? |
Was that necessary? Are you actually flaming this person because she lives in the suburbs? Seriously? |

I also got the Brazilian kerotene treatment done in Bethesda, MD. It cost about $350.
Ok, so the pros: YES this totally does work. I have curly hair to the point of being pure frizz in the DC humidity. It TOTALLY smoothed out my hair, and I felt like a different person. I never blow dried it, just let it dry natural, so it was never pin straight, just shiny and healthy looking with a little bounce. HUGE improvement. the cons: the hair dresser said nothing of the formaldehyde issue and I didn't learn about it until a week after I had the treatment done. During the treatment there was no mask, no ventilation, nothing. On top of that, I went back a second time for touch up's, so I ended up being exposed to the fumes twice. Even with the miracle of how improved my hair was, and I grimace when I say this b/c it really made me a happier person, there's no way I would do the formaldehyde treatment again. It's just not worth the health risk. If anybody has had good results with formaldehyde free treatments please let me know! |
| Yes, BUMP, as to the question of where to find salons that truly offer the formaldehyde free versions of the treatment? |
I'm not the source of the flame, but I see Annandale |
| Salon Khouri in Fairfax ... www.salonkhouri.com. They have pictures in their bio/portfolio section. I go there for the Sunpure Brazilian treatment and love it!! |
Any salon that offers the Peter Coppola treatment. I got it done at Roche Salon in Georgetown. |
| John McNett at Inari Salon and Spa (14th and K St) does it. I think $350. No formaldehyde. |
I got my formaldehyde free BKT today at PR and Partners in Reston Town Center. The stylist (Chrissy) used SunPure products. I paid 250 (not including tip) and on top of that, part of Brazilian keratin treatment package included the Sunpure sodium free shampoo, conditioner and smoothing lotion to help keep my results lasting longer. I didn't even have to pay extra for maintenance products! I can't wait to see my results after I finally get to wash it.

I got the Brazalian treatment last week at Salon Khouri (it was GREAT and the salon is really, really nice - was surprised by it because it's in an average shopping center), but found this on their website:
http://www.salonkhouri.com/promo.html Will have to call to see if they will honor it after-the-fact, but thought I would post here for others. So far, LOVE the results. |
