Where in Falls Church? How do you like the area? Would you consider it urban? |
Tyson fcps are better |
What do you mean? |
| I live in Tysons as a single Mom. It's ok I'm thinking of moving to Reston, but beware 267 traffic can be heavy in the morning. |
That's too far. Do you like living in Tysons? |
Reston is too far?! It's a 10 minute drive... Tysons is ok. My complaint is mostly business travelers live in Tysons. It's empty on the weekends. |
Reston is 10 minutes from Tysons? at what time, midnight?
|
| No one who really wants a short commute because they are a single mom working in Tysons is going to rent in Arlington. Dunn Loring is a good suggestion. |
| In Tyson's, You can find a two bed room apartment for a little more than 2k. But it it totally worth it. Check for Avalon Tyson's, Fountains ( condos but owners rent), Post Tyson's etc. There are many apartments/condos for rent near Jones Branch Dr and West park drive. The kids in those apt's goes to Spring Hill elementary school which is good and around 5 min ride from these places. From these places, Harristeeter is a walkable grocery shop and open 24 hrs. Tysons 2 mall is just a block or two. Otherwise, apartments in Dunnloring are also good. The kids goto stenwood or Shrevewood schools based on the boundaries. |
| OP Here- Thank you for the suggestions, so besides Tysons and Dunn Loring, where should I look? or should i just limit myself to those 2 areass? |

Where in Falls Church? How do you like the area? Would you consider it urban?[/quote] Around the west falls church stop of the orange line. I can walk to metro, giant, the dry cleaners, cvs and down on broad street to some of the restaurants. There is a nice trail near by for biking, walking. You need a car for everything else. The nice thing is that we rent from a family so we don't live in a large building with no sense of community. No kids. |
| How about Falls Church City? |
| Second for Falls Church City, outside of Arlington (if you think it's too far) it's your only spot of somewhat-urban environment. Good schools and a family-oriented vibe. Lots of parks. Pretty houses. And if you plan to drive anyway, then distance from metro shouldn't be an issue. Tysons will be just a short drive up on 66. |
| I'd suggest Town of Vienna. Dh works in Tyson's and it's an easy commute for him, we moved here for mainly that reason. Schools are great, community is fantastic. If you can find a place close in, near Maple Ave, Center St and/or Park Ave, you would have a very walkable neighborhood. The grocery store, the library, the town green, drug store, and plenty of restaurants would be walking distance. |
I second this. I also agree with area around Dunn Loring metro. It's up and coming. I lived there during the construction. We owned a 2 br condo that was townhouse style across the street from metro, and the rent in surrounding units was $2100. Good luck to you and your child. |
