Is that what they serve at Ruth' Chris?

Have no plans here yet-- melting pot is a great idea.

Foie gras!!! The kids could eat a whole one.
BIL sent them from France last week.

We used to feel bad about not sharing it with our friends (on Christmas Eve everyone does their own thing). But one Christmas Day, we offered it to our friends, who had no clue how to appreciate it. They called it "pate".

So now we go to Christmas Eve Mass, then eat our little foie gras feast without scruples!

Do you know how foie gras is produced? It's really awful.

I'm French. I know. Have you tasted it?

We eat a bunch of appetizers on the floor and call it Christmas Picnic. This year it's crudités, fruit, Brie and crackers, cocktail wieners (guilty pleasure), quiches, mozzarella sticks, some god-awful frozen chicken bites and egg rolls DH picked out, sparkling cider and cookies.

Tomorrow we get gourmet.

Ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and apple pie. Yum!

When do you buy the seafood for this? I wanted to make this but I was afraid the shellfish would die if I bought too far in advance.

That sounds really, really good.

Steakhouse with the kids. We have meals at the in laws and my folks for Christmas celebrations, so this outing is relaxing with no clean up by us.

I've got a roast and veggies in the crockpot, but after reading this thread, I'm wishing we were doing Melting Pot (or going over to whoever's serving grilled brats!). Maybe next year for Melting Pot.
