How much do you use the microwave?

Not to derail the thread, but I haven't had a microwave for 8 years. I kind of wish I had one now that I have kids though. We're redoing our kitchen and I'm getting lots of pressure to put in a microwave. Will it really hurt resale value to not have one? We plan to sell in 5 years.

We just bought a house with a newly remodeleded kitchen and no microwave. It has a six-burner professional range, so I think the prior owners just weren't the microwaving type.

We just bought a countertop model. I can't imagine someone would walk away from a perfectly good house because there's no microwave installed.

once a week or so to reheat stuff.

+2 It broke down and that's when I realized how much we use it.

I think it would. There are many things that help resale that you do not use yourself/ or everyday.

Maybe once a week. My toaster oven I couldn't live without, but my microwave I could easily let go. I just prefer to heat things up on the stove. I know each one gets things hot, but I think things taste better when they have been slowly warmed on the stovetop. Probably because I learned to cook from my grandmother.

Everyday. I cook a lot so leftovers are reheated in microwave. Also, I precook on weekends for hectic nights. I make homemade soup every weekend we use all week.

Tons.
To reheat drinks, cook frozen peas or corn, reheat leftovers, make popcorn, heat water for kid's tea or cocoa (because I can do 35 seconds and it's not too hot).

Tons..tea, hot cocoa, reheating leftovers, frozen veggies. I am so surprised to see other people's answers.

Several times a day. Love it.

Ah, the folk ways.

I cook frozen veggies in the microwave practically every night. I make oatmeal in the microwave most mornings, and I scald milk for bread (I bake a lot).

All the time - reheating food, beverages, cooking rice, making desserts, defrosting. One of the most used appliances in the kitchen.

Only use glass containers in the microwave. My concern is not about using microwave, but using plastic containers in it.

I used to use the microwave probably once a day for myself and the toaster oven a few times a day for DS/cooking.

Now we live abroad and have neither and I do miss them sometimes. Heating up leftovers on the stove/in the oven can be annoying when my toddler is screaming in his play area because I won't let him out while I'm in the kitchen.

It goes in waves - some days a bunch, sometimes never. It's a handy little sucker.

I am really confused by the lack of microwave usage here! I cook every night but I still use the microwave constantly -- to reheat leftovers (often for lunch), to "bake" potatoes, soften butter, cook veggies quickly.

What do people do to reheat leftovers if not using the microwave? Do you do everything on the stove? wait for the oven? Or do you just throw away all leftovers so you never have them?
