Used SUVs- Acura MDX vs Lexus GX 460

I have been looking at 2011 MDX's for about the same price, OP. You may want to keep looking around.

I bought a 2011 Acura MDX in December 2013. It had $10,000 miles on it and was in pristine condition (clean car fax report). In fact, the previous owner had purchased it at the end of 2011 so the car really was only a year old.
I paid $30,500 for it so you are getting robbed on that price unless there is some option in your car that is so expensive. Acura's usually don't have a ton of options though.

The third row is really small. I sat back there the first week we had the car and had family in town. I felt really isolated because the middle row blocks you in with a wall. It's really strange back there!

I can't say anything about the Lexus but if there is better space, I would go with that.

The Acura seems great for 2 kids and 1-2 more on occasion. Your 6 year old would have to go in the back so you don't have to struggle with car seats and seat belts. I don't think anyone wants to be back there on a regular basis.

I do like the Acura by the way. It works well for us. The one thing that is frustrating is that you can't put a car topper on it unless you buy their roof rack.

You don't have to use premium gas in those cars, though. You may notice a bit less performance as far as acceleration, etc. if you use regular gas. I started using regular in my TL when the gas prices went up.
