Not that person, but bacon grease is wonderful for greasing a pan for cooking. My mom used to save it, as well as use it to season her cast iron skillets. |
| Wait, people fry their bacon on the stove? Am I the only one that puts it in the oven? |
| I just microwave my pre cooked bacon! |
| Mix with cornmeal and feed to the birds. |
I have to agree with this, as this has already happened to me and it was a real mess. Now I keep a can in the fridge with grease in it, sometimes I just have an empty open can in the fridge so I will never again be in the position where I have grease and don't have a can to pour it into. |

Tin foil.
Seriously. Line a bowl with it. Pour the grease in. Grease hardens. Ball it up and throw it away. |
| Chesapeake bay sewer drain (I kid, I kid) |
NP. Yes, thank you! Now I'll be saving all my bacon grease. Question: How long will it be good in the refrigerator? I assume at some point it spoils. . . |
| I pour it down the garbage disposal with the hot water running so it stays melted |
For about 2 feet, and then it starts congealing. Honestly don't do this unless you want a backed up sink and an unnecessary visit from the plumber. |
| We pour ours into an empty yogurt cup and toss in the freezer. Then the next time we have grease we add to the yogurt cup. Once it is filled we throw it out and start again. |
| Quick question. I generally use olive oil when I cook and have been keeping my used olive oil in a coffee can in my freezer. However, all the talk of bacon fat made me wonder if I really need to do it for olive oil as well given that it doesn't congeal at room temp. What do you all think? |
