How did they end up together?

Nice judgment on your part though. You sound like a peach.

You assume it's a woman. Maybe OP is a man bitter his "friend" chose the nerd over him and is wondering where he went wrong...

Is she DC hot or LA hot?

What about an attractive guy with a woman who is not?

I think that is far more interesting than the other way around.

The OP mentioned the sexes of the two involved. There is no assumption.

This is unlikely, insofar as straight men are generally clueless in evaluating the nerdiness/hotness/sexiness of other men.

OP here. She's LA/NYC/Paris hot. I always thought she would be a movie star. Now I will admit she did go through a phase where she put on some weight. So maybe he was an emotional crutch then. I would expect her to date a guy from the gym or Wall Street banker.

Read again. I am talking about the OP. OP.....could be a man OR a woman. He/she addresses the sexes of their "friend."

Women are generally bad at determining if another woman is hot to a guy. Same thing applies to men. Women are judging the other woman though the female eye. Men just don't care about other men.

Is your friend generally shallow? Does she value looks and money over other qualities? If not, why is she friends with you? You sound awful.

That is so true.

Read again. The PP is saying that the FRIEND is not a vapid bitch. PP didn't make any assumption about the gender of the OP.

+1. since men are generally more shallow, i find the couples you're talking about to be fascinating.

Ha. I dated the guys from my gym, the guys who worked in high power jobs and all of that and none of them compare to DH who is a bit of a computer geek, slightly overweight, and has graying hair at 32. Sure, it was fun to date the guy that everyone stared at when we walked into a room, but none of them made me feel the way DH does. His personality and how he treats me, our son, my family, and our friends makes him a 20 and drops those other guys down to a 2. The funny thing is when I was dating the hot, rich guy, my friends would say how jealous they were that I was dating someone hot and with a ton of money. Now my friends say they are jealous of DH, but for many other (and IMO, better) reasons.

You sound like a terrible friend. I would be horrified if I found out any of my friends thought this about DH and me.

I'm the person you quoted. I was talking about the fact that OP's friend isn't a vapid bitch. I made no assumptions. WTH.
