+ God invented Robeez to keep socks on. And look cute. |
This is a great idea. I always wonder, though, when I see little girls in tights if they are hard to get on and off for diaper changes. Is it worth the trouble? |
| We use the Circo low-cut (not fold over) ones from Target. They come in a pack of 6 for about $6. At 9.5 months he's wearing the 12-24 month size. Wash in hot water before use. |
| Old Navy has worked the best for us. |
I don't find them harder to take on and off than pants. Of course if he wears these under pants, I have to remove two items, but in the winter, he has to wear something under his pants, right? Don't you put longjohns on your boys in the winter? If so, I don't think the tights are much different, and then you don't have to deal with socks. And they are so cozy! |

Gerber baby socks always stayed on my kids' feet:

| I got some at Carter's that work well. they are stretchy/ribbed ankles (no folding) and stay on well. the ones I got came in a 3 or 4 pack and are called crew socks. the 3-12 month lasted until about 13 months, but I think the 12-24 would have been fine earlier. I didn't like the old navy triple fold. they always slid down and looked saggy. |
| Another vote for Trumpette. The real Trumpettes stay on better than the Target Trumpettes. |
I don't actually put anything under pants in the winter -- do most people? If he's outdoors he's either in the stroller with a blanket or running around enough to keep warm. Then we come inside and he would be totally overheated if he had long johns on under his pants. We're in and out a lot so it would be hugely time consuming to keep changing him. I do bundle him up if it's snowing or if we're going to be out for an extended period of time when it's like below 30 (which is rare -- we usually keep outside trips fairly short when it's that cold.) |

best socks ever: gagou tagou
they use to sell them at BRU but now you can only get them on-line. They do not come off. |
German PP here. I actually had this conversation with my sister recently, who now lives in Berlin but used to live in Britain, when I mentioned it was hard to find unisex knit tights for babies/toddlers here. She said it was the same in Britain, and when I asked what Brits put on their boys, she laughed and said "nothing, boys don't get cold!". It was a strange notion to us, but then of course, winter temperatures are quite often well below freezing in Germany, so DC may simply be a different situation, and probably most people do what you do. I still feel it's nice to put something under the pants even if it's just in the 30s. But I don't use a blanket in the stroller. When we come home, I often simply take the pants off and let him crawl around in his tights. |
| Old Navy with the cuff. Cheap and they work. |
| Love Robeez and I also liked Trumpette! But have not tried most of the others mentioned. |
