| French if you have the space for it. My cats have figured out how to open bifold and sliding closet doors, but they can't open French doors! |
| 11:01 here. We replaced bifold with French because I couldn't access the ends of the closet. Also, we were always leaving the bifolds open because they didn't close smoothly or just out of laziness. The French doors take up more space when open so we're never tempted to leave them open and the room looks neater. |
| We have a front closet with one end right near the front door. Are there doors available that both fold and pull out? |
| Definitely french. With bifold and sliding doors you are dealing with tracks which can become an issue. And as a PP mentioned with french doors you can hang things on the inside of the door like a shoe rack or even a mirror. |
| We have some sort of bi-fold/french hybrid in one of our bedrooms. The doors are hinged in the middle like bifolds, but they are not on a track, they pull out. I find it very annoying and am debating finding something to keep them from folding as I don't want to replace the entire door. |
| We have sliding closet doors (wood, nice ones). They work well and are very firmly in the track, not like the cheapy metal ones that pull out of the track. It's not a huge room and having French doors would take up too much space. |
With sliding doors, you can only see half your closet. |
I don't need to see my entire closet at the same time. |
| French sucks. They can be wonky to open or close, and, if the little piece falls out, it's an issue. |
| I hate bifolds, kids closets have them as wells hall closet and I can't wait to switch them out. |
| We have French doors in all the bedrooms but the rooms are way too small for them. It makes me sad, but eventually I'm going to have to replace them! |
| I love all three. |

Answer is French. I saw your pics. I HATE when I can't see all of my clothes at once. The bifold means you can't access the sides easily and the sliding means you can only see half the closet. I also hate floor tracks on bifold doors, but I'm not sure they all have those.
We have 100% french doors on all our closets. They are slightly annoying if your closet is really wide. The wider the doors get, the more room they need to swing out. |
| Sliding is the worst. You can only look at half of your closet. We took ours off and now the closet is open. |
|
Why does everyone need to see their whole closet at once? My closet is a little over 10', and I wouldn't be able to see everything all at once even if the closet didn't have sliding doors.
I see the appeal of French doors for aesthetics (we're about to redo the MBDRM), but don't think I can do them due to the size of the closet. That's a lot of doors, and they would open into a narrow space in some spots. |
