Is there a methodology to the number of pages Kumon assigns?

I've been in the Kumon program for about 4 years now and this has been my experience:

A-G: 10 pages/day
H-J: 5 pages/day
K-M: 2 pages/day
N-O: 4-3-3 pages/day

I'd spend a reasonable amount of time for each packet, but the experience was alright. You may have noticed this "4-3-3 pages/day" for levels N-O. This decision was partly because I wanted to finish the math program quicker and devote more time in the future to school. I am on winter break, so I increased it to 10 pages/day while in level O. I plan to finish it by the start of the spring school year. If you're wondering, I spend ~2-3 hours per 10 pages in level O. (Yes, I don't have a life.)
I hope this gave you somewhat of a basis for your decisions.

My mom’s friend ran a Kumon. She wanted her clients to be happy. Many parents who wanted rigor were Asian.

If you want rigor say so. They will be happy to make you happy.

Smart parents don’t send their kids to Kumon. They their children math themselves

I guess our resident moron didn’t go to Kumon and is not sending their kid to Kumon either.

Definitely will not hire our resident moron nor his/her child. Spent enough of my time here. Have a great day.

heck yeah! as a kumon kid, i agree. kids have breakdowns, cry, make excuses to leave, and are depressed. sobbing left and right!

Get the AoPS books and do those instead

Yes. Both niece and nephew did Kumon Reading. Its a good program. They were solid readers beforehand, but it definitely helped with comprehension and boosted their reading skill level.

DC spends about 15 minutes a day at home on Kumon math, using the official Kumon workbooks which we bought at the bookstore.

DC also spends about 10-15 minutes reading out loud to us every day in the summer, to avoid summer brain drain.

That time is so well spent in our opinion. DC loves both reading and math now — and the reading and math skills each are growing nicely.
