For those who needed assistance ovulating, what did the trick?

We did three rounds of timed intercourse and three IUIs with one chemical pregnancy. We did IVF and it worked on the first try. I am now 22 weeks pregnant with twins. During the process it was exhausting and expensive to do seven months of injections but my husband was a trooper. Could not be happier now!

I love your story because I am in a similar situation. 7 cycles of injectables and either TI or IUI, and nothing. In the middle of our first IVF now.

So happy for you, good luck!

Op again. So I bit the bullet and made an appt with an re for next week. I might as well get all of the diagnostic testing done before my deductible starts all over again in January.

Good for you! You will not regret it. Best of luck.

What worked for us, on our third IUI cycle, was Gonal-F and Ovidrel trigger. I've also been on 1500mg Metformin for about four years (before we were TTC).

The first couple cycles we tried Clomid (and I had tried it with the Metformin alone), but it made me crazy without actually making me ovulate.

I was relieved when the RE just went with the Gonal and trigger. My physical and mental state were so much better without the Clomid.

I can't claim to have done this, but other women with PCOS have used diet to help bring on ovulation. I have a book or two about it. Again, I didn't try it, so I'm not sure how bad your PCOS has to be before diet doesn't do much.

Good luck.

Op here. I have my appt with the RE Friday and I think I got my period this am. I am
Now on 1500 of metformin and did a round of progesterone in early oct so maybe this did the trick? Either way I am keeping my appt. just feeling hopeful bc I got my period finally without progesterone.

Op again. Since I got a period without progesterone the RE basically just said give it a few months and if nothing is happening then come back. I was all amped up for ultrasounds and tests but I guess it's best to not go there is I potentially don't have to.

I just started treatment because I have trouble ovulating on my own. It took us a year of trying for #2 to get to an RE, partially because of the out of pocket cost, partially because we were in denial.

Our insurance is similar to yours in that it covers diagnostics but not treatment. To our surprise, we found out last month that a medicated timed intercourse cycle is actually considered diagnostics. Apparently, insurance will cover all the monitoring and bloodwork in a timed intercourse cycle, regardless of the medication. The meds are not covered, but a Clomid+Trigger cycle only ran us $100 in meds. Injectables will definitely be more expensive, but still something to check out, especially if cost is a major hold-up for you.

This was our experience, also. We did injectables and timed intercourse for two successful pregnancies (plus 2 failed cycles), and paid less than $500 out of pocket for everything combined. I think I spent almost as much in fancy chocolates to help myself feel better throughout our years struggling with infertility.
