A basic explanation of SPF.

Hi! I'm the recomender who started it all and am really glad I could help.
RE the great SPF controversy - as someone with fair skin, I don't expect any sun block to work all day. If I'm out in the sun, I always reapply sunblock every couple of hours. But on winter days when I'm just stitting in my office, I think one application of the LM is fine. Sadly, I don't have much to recomend in terms of other products. I try to stay away from eye makeup - it rarely looks good on me. Just mascara - brown (or purple for fancy). I do try to get my eyebrows done at least semi-regularly - the look I am going for is more "groomed than "done". Skincare I like Mario Badescu but I think that is more that I like the small size of the bottles and pots, and I don't feel like I'm paying for extra packaging. |
I don't know of any sunscreen that will provide coverage for the whole day. You need to re-apply every 2 hours or so, even if you are inside all day. |
Eyebrows? Where? I've been searching for years for someone good. |
I'm the OP, and now I am truly perplexed. The article above says you need to apply every 2 hours if you spend a lot of time outdoors. But when I'm spending a lot of time outdoors, I go for the Neutrogena waterproof 45 and I do reapply after swimming.
If I am in my office applying sunscreen to my made-up face every two hours, my face will start looking like one of my son's finger paintings before lunch. I don't get it. |
If you're inside you're not exposed to the sun! You don't need to reapply it.
The only time you might need to reapply it is before leaving work if it's sunny/high UV day.. |
No, I think that you are exposed to some sun when at work. The sun comes through my window and shines on my desk. I'm sure some reflects back on my face. The question is how many applications of what strength SPF is necessary to do the job without having to reapply and destroy your whole face. I don't have time to wash every 2 hours and go through my whole routine again. |
I can't find the post this relates to, but if you are asking who does amazing eyebrows, the DC guru is Erwin Gomez at his eponymous Georgetown salon and spa. Be prepared for some serious sticker shock, but just being in Erwin's presence for five minutes is totally worth it! Google for his website - I can't remember it off hand. He also has a half-price couture shop, which is pretty wild, on the second floor of his salon. |
