There are the little footie sock things that are designed to hide under the edges of pumps. I'd probably choose to wear those to at least get something between my foot and the shoe. |
if it's cold definitely some sort of stocking - think bold colored tights under a cute skirt/dress! however, if it's pseduo warm, i might try to get away w/o anything. dc weather is crazy. |
Hmmm. Looks like I've got 2 votes for barefoot. To the PP that asked, apparently there are some very thin, nice type socks that serve the same purpose as knee highs. But why go to the trouble, or spend the money?? With all that I save over the course of a year, I could probably get a new pair of shoes! |
OP, I advised you to go with kneehighs, or alternatively bare feet. As for the thin pretty socks, I dunno. To me it screams little girl. How old are you? If you are over 35, I'd say you're in hose territory.
Good luck. Enjoy the pumps and the family feud. |
For OP, barefoot is cold. It would have been my vote in any other season, but not this one. In winter, unless you're really just going from attached garage to underground parking lot (yikes), I wouldn't do it. I would wear something thin and quiet underneath. This whole thread has been full of confusing posts spouting odd opinions. First, I'm not sure how much the sliver of instep visible between trouser leg and shoe vamp that really only appears when one is seated is more of an issue for women with fuller figures. That's not where my figure fills up. I'm not as knowledgeable about these things as I used to be before parenthood, reduced economic expectations, and confinement to Washington, where few women care, but I'm under the foggy impression that high vamps are in this year. There shouldn't be much foot showing at all. Here's the one that confounds me the most. WHY would PP suggest that OP ought to have bought two pairs of black shoes in a very similar style just now? Are all of PP's shoes black? Couldn't OP have gone chocolate, grey, berry or purple with at least one of them? |
I got two pairs of shoes: on black by Nine West, and one chocolate brown by Kate Spade. The Kate's look like this: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/36231727/c/160420.html. The Nine West's are cheaper but similar in style except that they have two straps instead of one.
Reasons for not liking hoseiry, generally: they feel old to me, they are not comfortable, I usually get only one wearing out of them, and I don't think they look good. I do not, however, want to be a "skank". |
11:17 here-- Yeah, I didn't understand the "skank" comment, either. |
OP, the link didn't work. Try again? |
I vote barefoot. I get hot even in winter and can't stand it if my feet get hot! |
Don't know why it is not working. Here it is again. I got the brown: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/36231727/c/160417.html |
Cute shoes. I think you could definitely get away with wearing these without hose. |
Those are really pretty. How would you feel about "tights socks"? That would be these colored knee highs which have a little more weight to them. I can't imagine wearing a full pair of tights under pants (but then I can't stand feeling all closed in). |
Thanks PPs. DCUMs -- the good, the bad and the ugly. I always keep coming back. |
Cute shoes. I can't imagine not wearing anything with them in the winter. I'd choose knee highs or thin socks, too. No full on hose with pants on. But barefoot? No way... |
That was probably because OP is Ammy (sp?)... and some members don't "like" her much. |
