"maternity leave lady" here. DS comes with me to some volunteer work and I also volunteer my services a few hours a week to local outreach programs. (we aren't in the DC area)

What's the point of the thread? I'm also on maternity leave...I can be redundant Mat leave poster (RMLP).

anyway, I'm only worth 1 mil, my husband another mil. He's trying to figure out when we can retire. Our money makes more money per month than he does (I make 2/3 of the family money but he manages it well).

I don't really plan on retirning before my kids hit college but I'd like to retire the minute the both leave the nest.

By the way, WTF do people red shirt? I want free schools and freedom asap!

Thank you. DH got to where he is through a lot of hard work and a lot of luck. We both know that many people are not as fortunate and we also know we have the means to try to help those less fortunate so we try to do it as much as we are able to.

Okay. First time posting in this thread. I am sitting in an airport and bored. I learned of DCUM when a friend from high school used this site while I was at her house visiting. I'm mostly a lurker since I live in the Bay Area. DH and I are white. Both our families come from money. We each work full-time, mostly because there's not enough space in our backyard for a swimming pool for all our hundred dollar bills. Neither of us leave cheese on the counter.

Our net worth is $4M - $7M depending on the financial health of DH's private company when he retires. He doesn't want to retire until our youngest is 25.

Original maternity leave lady here. Both DH and I are white. We lived in the DC area for a bit and then moved to outside Boston. Now we are living abroad for a bit.

I come from an upper middle class/ white collar family, DH comes from a middle class /blue collar family.

We rented for a long time, first in the city of Boston itself and then outside while we tried to figure out where we wanted to buy. Now renting a house in another country. We did pay off our parents' mortgages on 2 condos and 1 house.
