it is practical to think about these sort of things but don't let practicality get in the way of other major components of having a child ie: love, romance, etc.. don't think it through too much or you will drive yourself crazy! let love and mother nature have a say as well. best of luck. |
I have two kids with summer birthdays. The second was due the first week in Sept. but came two weeks early. I had always thought that this was a good thing (making the Sept. 1 cut-off) but, frankly, now that my older child is ready to start Kindergarten I wish that he had a little longer in preschool. He is ready to go to school (or so I've been told) but an extra few or six months would be great for him, I think. Not considering holding him back. |
I don't begrudge anyone their own ideas about planning - I think her concerns are valid, actually.
I was trying to plan my second child around our plans to move - I ended up hitting the nail on the head in terms of the move but realized after the fact that I ended up with a kid with an early October birthday. He will miss the school cutoff by a few days. So that means dealing with the issues that concern the OP - finding appropriate childcare/activities for that age group and for an extra year. That said, you can't just dial up a due date so if you are trying I say keep trying - it may not happen on your schedule (my first child did not - I had a miscarriage which totally threw off my "plan"). Good luck! |
