I am confused about the earlier question -- requesting the withholding? What does that mean?
We need to pay taxes on the benefit, to the DC govt and the Fed govt. You can opt to have this withheld (shrinking your benefit check), or paid to you but then you would have to file a tax return and pay taxes owed. I'm ok paying the tax, just needed advice on which is easier to deal with in the event of back pay. Hope this makes sense!
