I thought the guy in back was trying to avoid killing the bird on-camera, and was looking at the interviewer and/or the camera operator to get him off-camera so he could do his job. Finally he lost patience and got to work. Maybe I'm being seasonably charitable, but I think the interview team was just paying attention to Palin and not noticing what was about to go on in the background. |
I don't know what the big deal is. If you eat poultry, you need to realize that someone, somewhere, kills your birds before you cook and eat them. This is pretty much how it gets done. |
I think we're missing the point here. It's not about Joe the Turkey Killer. It's about whether or not Palin was aware of what was going on behind her, and whether the media played a deliberate role in making her look like a moron. |
Oh boo hoo hoo. You are happy to eat slaughtered animals, you just don't want to know how it is done. Cowardly and unconscionable. Everyone who eat meats should have to know how and where it comes from. This would do more for animal rights than anything else. And I say this as a carnivore (albeit one who only eats humanely reared animals). |
By "the media" do you mean "the cameraman"? Believe me, this woman requires no assistance to look like a moron. Just listen to the stream of drivel coming from her mouth. |
I honestly did not care about the Turkey "killing". Until age 17 (when I moved to the US) I used to raise and kill my own poultry. The point of the video is that Palin is totally clueless. Did she not notice where she was. She could have asked the camera crew to stop - but not she just kept going with the perpetual run on sentence.
Yikes!!!! |
I completely agree. She is a pro at making herself look foolish. But in all fairness to her, do you think the media (reporter and the person filming) staged it w/o her knowledge? I think both played a role. Yes, she's stupid in not knowing what was going on behind her. Or, if she was "in the know," she didn't think it would do any damage - again, just another dumb move on her part. At the same time, the interview could have taken play away from the slaughter. |
Actually - she knew this was going on. In fact, the camera people asked her to move to a better location and she chose not to. Think about all the publicity she is getting now because of this - she is a whack job but knows that any publicity is good publicity. |
Here's what I want to know: why don't we kill all of our animals the same we we kill dogs, cats and horses? First an overdose of barbituate, then a lethan injection that they do not feel. That would cost less than cutting each bird's throat in a machine with the bird alive, and be much more humane. |
OK - then I'll repeat what I said earlier: Or, if she was "in the know," she didn't think it would do any damage - again, just another dumb move on her part. She is an odd bird - couldn't resist. |
Where was Palin's advance team and handlers? I don't think this is as much about Palin being clueless, as much as the people who assist her not doing a very good job.
I don't get what the big deal is beyond that though. The woman who hunts moose and takes animals off the endangered species list stood next to turkeys being slaughtered. Big surprise. |
Um. well, dont know about you, but I would not want to eat the flesh of an animal that was laced with barbituates and "poison". |
FYI: Barbiturate. The "uric" in barbituric acid refers to the fact that it was derived from urea (i.e., piss). Just remember that it's the "bar bit you rate", not the "bar bit you ate". |
This is actually a good observation. Why WOULD anyone be shocked by this now that I think of it? |
The point that I took from the story is the irony of Palin issuing the televised pardon for one turkey whilst another was being killed in the background. |
