July or August summer school

If he goes that late in June I'd chose August for summer school. By late June kids are definitely in "summer mode" and moving right into 4 more weeks of school could be miserable.

I wouldn't do summer school unless your child really needs it. If it is just to get ahead and not to provide necessary help, I would skip it. 6 hours a day is too long!
