Ted Cruz born in Canada; Hilarious!

It matters not what anyone thinks. What matters is what the Constitution says. All Cruz has to do is renounce his Canadian citizenship (he has dual).

Is Ted Cruz running for president?

Again, if Hillary (or Biden) had dual citizenship, the right would not accept the "simple act of renouncing" as sufficient.

Yes, Ted Cruz is running. In 3 years. It's ridiculous that we're even talking about this.

Now you can start your rant and call me a birther even though I've said nothing that would support that. I'm sure you left wingers won't disappoint.

That's the contrast? Uh, no. The contrast is that Obama was born on US soil. The birther argument was that even though he was born to a US citizen, he wasn't actually born on US soil, and . . . wait for it . . . was not a "natural-born citizen" and therefore INELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT.

In other words, the birthers thought Obama was ineligible to be president because they believed - deeply - that the circumstances of his birth were exactly the same as Cruz's. Oops.

That's got nothing to do with the birther argument, which was that a person is not a natural-born citizen if he is born on foreign soil to a US citizen. The attacks on the legitimacy of the Obama presidency were not predicated on the belief that he was a Kenyan citizen, they were predicated on the (mistaken) belief that he was born in Kenya.

(Actually, they were predicated on the belief that he was a black socialist Muslim who spend a lot of time in a Christian church where his pastor indoctrinated him with anti-American views. But he's Muslim. But I digress.)

Note that I believe "natural-born citizen" means a citizen from birth, which makes Cruz eligible to be president. But is sure is fun watching the wingnuts squirm.

Wow, if only if the Birthers had that brilliant insight in 2008 or 2012

But still there is an issue of whether "native born " includes those physically born outside of the US.

I think the Ted Cruz run for the presidency will end quickly and he will be a mere footnote in history, regardless of the birther nonsense. He and Rick Perry make me so happy that I don't live in Texas.

Since Obama's father's supposed Muslim religion (he was an atheist) is such a big deal to many birthers, I'm surprised Cruz's father being Cuban does not send them looking for his true Communist feelings under that right-wing facade.

The birther theory never made any sense. Having said that, Ted Cruz is much more American than Obama is black, so let's not fall into easy biases.

Cubans are all liberty-loving heroes for leaving, didn't you know?

You're wrong about that. The problem the right has with Obama is his haughtiness, which causes him no end of problems.

Actually, the problems were caused by Obama's own behavior - and they continue.

Believe it or not, conservatives are much more concerned with his affiliation with Wright than any time he spent in a Muslim country. Conservatives issues with Obama/Muslim is how naive he is in dealing with the significant issues. It's like Carter redux in so many ways.

You guys can't be this naive. When one leaves a communist country to get away from oppression, it stands to reason they would not be terribly empathetic to oppression.

Examples of naivety?

Exactly. That black man don't know his place.
