Because the right wing viewpoint is so under-represented in the national debate and national media that you have to advertise on DCUM to find the 3 like-minded people in the DMV area? These 3 people are cowering under their beds just waiting for a shout-out from someone like you?

I don't get it. Your current book club was sitting around discussing Jane Austen or the latest Dan Brown, and suddenly everybody looked your way and ostracized you for your political beliefs? The answer is clear, OP. You don't need a right-wing book club. You need better friends.

Why the hostility?

i feel for you, OP. It's hard these days to find a safe place to say disparaging things without being disparaged.

You realize all this guy did was try to get some like-minded people together to read and talk about book, right? He wasn't being disparaging; you all are being disparaging. We're this an OWS meeting, would you all react the same?

And before the word police arrive, that's books, not book

I'm interested, too, but in McLean VA.

I'm in GF. I'm sure we could get others interested.

If a bunch of liberals said they wanted a progressive book club, not because of the books but just because they don't want conservatives around, I would say they are narrow minded.

Who is being narrow minded and hateful?

Re-read the OP's post again. Where does the OP say that liberals would not be welcome. Here, I'll post it for you so you don't have to press the back button.

If you are liberal and enjoy reading and discussing right of center books without foaming at the mouth, I'm sure that you'd be welcome at the OP's proposed book club. Not that I'd expect any of the liberal posters on this form to ever meet any of those criteria. As is demonstrated over and over again in this forum, haters have to hate. That is what they do.

One of OP's criteria, which you yourself have highlighted, is that participants be politically right-of-center.

New poster.

This thread is so perfect. You guys on the left just cannot help but being jackasses to a conservative poster.

You just can't shut yourself up and be civil.

Thank you for modeling civility perfectly: by calling everyone "jackasses".

Jeff,

I presume you've read all the posts in this thread. I'm not sure why you expect a conservative poster here to be a doormat for the ugliness of the liberal posters. If you trace my IP address, you know that I am a poster from the right who regularly complains about the uncivil tone in political threads.

I don't become uncivil with people I disagree with until they become that way with me. When people become offensive I have no problem in calling them jackasses. You were that way in a thread with me several weeks ago and I stand by the insults I made to you. You started the insulting comments with me in that thread.

Enough with the sanctimony.
