I recall the Toth facts. What is creepy is that you seem to think it is appropriate to make a competition out of such incidents. It comes across as really odd.

As far as this new case, although the person worked part time at GDS there's no evidence of any improper conduct toward any GDS students and I certainly hope it stays that way, and hope that his alleged actions affected as few young people as possible in the community at large.

Providing a safe environment for the students is an essential responsibility of a school. Letting a pedophile through the screening process is a failure on the part of the school, no matter what the explanation.

Step by step. Don't give up just because it is challenging. Taking the worst case as an example, Toth reportedly had "good references" and no arrest record when he was hired by the Cathedral schools. Yet there were red flags - Toth had moved from job to job every few years and parents at at least school had expressed concerns that Toth was getting too close to children. This information was either ignored or didn't get to the decision makers - why? Schools have had a tendency to act in the shadows to avoid accusations of unfair treatment - that is a sensible approach for protecting the reputation of the school and the predator - but it is inevitable that some predators will succeed in abusing children as a result of this cautious approach. The first priority must be protecting the children. Some schools have avoided pedophile problems - is it just luck? Perhaps, but wouldn't it be worthwhile t look to see if those schools are doing something different? Among schools that admit elementary school age children, GDS, the Cathedral Schools, Sidwell and Potomac have all have pedophile incidents, but Holton, Landon, Norwood, Maret and Bullis have not - why? This is a subject that should NOT be taboo.
