Because its CULTURAL!!!!!!! Did you read that? The nurses do it as soon as the baby comes out. |
Well to me a 'cultural thing' isn't reason enough to alter a child's body part. But that's just my opinion... |
Her ears were also pierced and it's not a big deal. In brazil the earrings are given to the nursery nurses. The baby leaves the hospital with it. |
Nor I. Those that are should be far more worried about what would lead them to calling a child trashy or ghetto. Plenty to worry about there. |
| It's funny reading this site.....black folks have been piercing our babies ears for decades. My great grandmother pierced mine at. 2 mos. I have two daughters, one got them at 3 ms, the other at 9 mos only because her ears were so tiny I had to wait. |

I'm black and no baby girl's ear has been pierced in my family. My mother waited to have my ears pierced until I asked for it. I was 3. I'll do the same with my girls. |
|
I remember getting my ears pieced at 4. I remember wanting pierced ears and I remember it hurting. I probably would rather have not remembered it (ie having it done as an infant), but earrings on a girl is pretty much inevitable.

| OP is racist classist trash. Too bad for her kids. |
I'm the OP and I was being sarcastic. Since when GB is trashy????? |
+2 I had my ears pierced as a baby and thank god! I was not a cute baby. The earring were a needed distraction. |

I hope y'all aren't anti vaccine too, sheesh. It's better to do it younger because the baby doesn't remember it. |
My point was this is not some trailer trash epidemic, and all of my friends with daughters had their ears pierced as infants. And for the record, this is a group of college educated women...... |
Same here. |
