| I'm interested in this too. Our Dr. gave us a 10-15% chance for IUI success due to sperm motility & morph issues. Did anyone else have these numbers and have success with IUI? I was thinking of stopping after 1 or 2... |
We were told the sperm was pretty be, very low chance of success wo IVF. Yet we got pregnant twice with IUI. The thing is, my husband count varies a great deal, we had everywhere from zero (yup, don't know what happened there) to 55 mil. Motility was average, morphology below average but not disastrous. I got pregnant with his two best counts. |

We did 3 unmedicated, then 3 medicated IUIs before moving on to IVF. Because we were unexplained IF, we weren't sure what would fix our undiagnosed problem. Our Dr. encouraged us to try IVF sooner, but we wanted to be comfortable.
Sure enough, we're now nearly 10w pregnant after our first IVF cycle. That said, I'm not sure I regret going at our own pace. |
This is encouraging, thanks!!!

| We had MF, low morphology. Did 5 failed IUI's. (insurance covered 1/2 of 6 IUI's) 2 failed NCIVF. Finally got pregnant 1st try with traditional IVF. Baby just turned 1 and I just found out I am pregnant naturally! So you just never know! After 5 tries, I would move onto IVF though... |

We have done 5 IUIs as well. Our case is also unexplained, but my husband has amazing sperm, my tubes are clear, and I respond well to clomid. Yet...nothing so far. I am 32 and my doctor (Sacks at CFA) has told me I have no reason to "rush" into IVF. Which is why we are now in the middle of our 6th IUI cycle. I really didn't want to do this one, felt it was a waste, but my husband really wanted to the 6 recommended before moving on.
I fully expect to be moving on to IVF this fall, but of course I'm hoping this last ditch effort pays off. |

OP here-- Your story sounds very similar to mine. I responded well to Clomid, and to femara, and yet the IUIs never worked. I am 32 as well and have been told that I have plenty of time, but I've been going through this for almost 3 years, so I'm def ready for something else.
Thanks for sharing your story. |

I'm 14:38 from above...
Yes we do sound similar! We've been at this for 2.5 years, so I can understand you're feeling ready for a change. My RE said that if we wanted to take the rest of the year off from treatment and start IVF next year, he thought that'd be fine. I, however, am not fine with that plan. We had 18 months of trying on our own and if this last IUI doesn't work, I am ready to move to IVF. I'm not excited about the money AT ALL but if it gets me a baby I think every penny spent will feel worth it. It is a tough decision though because since we both appear to be healthy it seems that at some point over the next few years, we'd most likely conceive. I'm just not willing to wait to find out, mostly because I'd like to have more than one kid so I gotta get this show on the road. Anyhow, good luck to you! |
Similar story here. I did TI cycles until 42 and then 2 IVF cycles, which failed horribly. Demanded 3 IUI's before going to DE. Got pregnant on 2nd IUI with twins at 42. |
Thanks for sharing! I am the PP. My RE thought I was crazy and insisted I should move to DE. This at barely 40, with 18 mo conceived first month of trying. |
Yup, RE thought I was crazy, but I had gotten pregnant on the first try ever at 41, so we were willing to give it a few tries (for basically free) before paying big $$$. Now, I'm only 8w6d, so the fat lady hasn't yet sung, but you get point. Strange things CAN happen. |
